Leaving from the Blackmore Vale at about 9:00 we take you directly to Tiverton, Devon.

We will start the day with brunch at the Bickleigh Mill Restuarant, Tiverton, with its views of the waterside gardens and mill wheel. We will be offered sausage sandwiches in fresh Bloomer Bread, vegetarian and vegan options available (please ask).

Bickleigh Mill is also renowned for being one of the top quality shopping destinations in Devon. From local and British produced goods to exotic gifts from around the world, Bickleigh Mill offers a huge range to suit all tastes.You will have a chance to browse before we join our barge at 2:30 pm for our two and a half hour trip.

Being one of the last remaining Horse-Drawn Barges in Great Britain, a trip on the “Tivertonian” offers a truly unique and memorable living heritage experience of a time before steam . . Expect a magical time on your trip getting to know the staff, heavy horses, barge and wildlife.

You will be taken along the beautiful Grand Western Canal Country Park and Local Nature Reserve, with it’s wildlife, the distant clip clop of the horses hooves and the gentle ripple of the water, It’s an experience that will take you back to times gone by of yesterday year, before even steam was invented. . . There will be guides on the barge to enhance your trip with interesting tales from the days of horse-drawn barges and some interesting facts about the old Grand Western Canal.
