CHEESE & WINE CRUISE ON THE THAMES – WALTON-ON-THAMES – A three-hour cruise where history, scenery, and delicious cheese meet on England’s most famous river. After a comfortable journey through Surrey with a stop en route, we arrive at Cowey Sale beside Walton Bridge – where Julius Caesar forded the Thames in 54 BC. 12:15 pm – Embarkation & Welcome – Board your vessel (four easy steps with assistance available) and settle in. Choose your complimentary drink – red or white wine, soft drink, tea, or coffee. Your individual cheeseboard arrives with assorted crackers, French bread, and chutney. 1:00 pm – Cast Off! – As the boat pulls away, the calm Thames unfolds before you.

What you’ll discover:

  • D’Oyly Carte Island – Built by Richard D’Oyly Carte, founder of the Savoy Hotel, this private island once served as a rehearsal retreat for Gilbert and Sullivan’s legendary comic operas.
  • Shepperton Manor – Admire this elegant Georgian manor house with its manicured grounds, perfectly capturing 18th-century grace.
  • Desborough Channel – Cruise through this scenic waterway, looping around Desborough Island. Watch swans glide by and spot herons along the banks.
  • Taggs Island – Spot the authentic Swiss chalet on this charming island – an unexpected Alpine touch!
  • Sunbury Lock & Hampton Reaches – Experience passing through the lock, then cruise the beautiful reaches. Catch glimpses of Hampton Court Palace’s distinctive Tudor chimneys in the distance.
  • Picturesque Riverside Properties – Marvel at stunning waterfront homes, charming bungalows with gardens tumbling to the water’s edge.
  • Walton Bridge – Pass beneath this historic crossing point. Six bridges have spanned here since 1748; Canaletto immortalised the first in 1754 (now in Dulwich Picture Gallery).

Throughout your three-hour journey, relax, savour your cheese and wine, and soak up the tranquil beauty of the Royal Thames.
