Day 1: We depart the Blackmore Vale and head to our hotel in Harrogate with a stop for lunch. We aim to get to our hotel for mid-afternoon where you will have time to freshen up before dinner. The Crown Hotel is an 18th-century mansion house and is located in the heart of historic Harrogate, only a 2-minute walk from the Royal Pump Room museum.

Day 2: After breakfast we depart the hotel for the first attraction of the day, Castle Howard at Christmas, one of Britain’s finest historic houses. At Christmas, Castle Howard becomes a wonderland of happily ever afters, fair maidens and magic as they bring you a Christmas experience like no other. The castle will transform its grand rooms into magical forests and faraway kingdoms. Expect to be enchanted by theatrical installations and projections that bring to life your favourite fairytales as the sounds of glass slippers on ballroom floors and horse-drawn pumpkins echo through the great halls via state-of-the-art soundscapes.

In the afternoon we will be visiting where James Herriot, the world’s most famous vet, lived, worked and relaxed. See his home and surgery in Thirsk; travel back in time to what life was like when James was a vet in Yorkshire. You will see his 1940’s Home, original Austin 7 car, the Farrier’s Workshop, Herriot Memorabilia and much more!

We aim to arrive back at the hotel in time for a freshen up before our three course dinner.

Day 3: You will have free time in Harrogate to shop or relax.

Day 4: After breakfast, we say our farewells and start the return journey home. A stop for lunch and then a leisurely journey back to Blackmore Vale arriving late early evening.
