Spend New Year’s Eve in Derby at the Hallmark Hotel Derby Midland, Derby.

Day 1: We depart the Blackmore Vale and head to our hotel in Derby with a stop for lunch. We aim to get to our hotel for mid-afternoon where there will be tea and coffee and cakes on arrival.

Day 2: Today we you are free to explore Derby. You could visit the Derby Museum & Art Gallery and discover Joseph Wright who was one of the most interesting and important painters of the late 18th century. Or try Derby Cathedral Quarter filled with unique independent shops, great cafes, restaurants, great cafes and bars, stunning arts and cultural venues and historical landmarks. Meander through historical streets with arcades and hidden entrances and discover a myriad of specialist stores and independent retailers. There is also Derby Cathedral which towers above the city and has the second highest perpendicular church tower in England. The Cathedral is a fascinating place to visit, discover the awesome tomb of Bess of Hardwick, the Bakewell Screen is one of the Cathedral’s central features and there are a whole host of other treasures awaiting discovery. Listen out for the bells too, they are the oldest set of 10 bells in the world, one of which as cast in 1520, during the reign of Henry VIII and is still in use almost 500 years later.

Return to your hotel in time for your New Year Celebrations that have been arranged by the hotel.

Day 3: Today is a leisurely day to recover from your New Year’s Eve celebrations and enjoy New Year’s Day quietly!!!

Day 4: After breakfast we say our farewells and start the return journey home. A stop for lunch and then a leisurely journey back to Blackmore Vale arriving late afternoon/early evening.
