Set against the majesty of the Serengeti Plains and to the evocative rhythms of Africa, Disney’s multi award-winning musical is a unique theatrical experience that you will remember forever.
The Lion King tells the story of Simba, a young lion who is to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands. However, after Simba’s paternal uncle Scar murders Mufasa, Simba is manipulated into thinking he was responsible and flees into exile. This is where he meets Timon (the meerkat) and Pumbaa (the warthog) who become his friends. He grows up in their company and Simba receives valuable perspective from his childhood friend, Nala and his shaman, Rafiki, before returning to challenge Scar to end his tyranny and take his place in the Circle of Life as the rightful King. Featuring the music from Elton John and stunning costumes you will think you are in Africa and not sat in a theatre.
The trip includes Afternoon Tea at the historic Grade II listed Mayflower Theatre. Afternoon Tea includes a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, a selection of traditional treats and a choice of tea or coffee.
The Mayflower Theatre has recently received a £7.5 million makeover with a major refurbishment that has been carried out on the 90 year-old venue.
