Join us for this short break to Looe in South East Cornwall. Looe is a very popular family Holiday Resort town, divided into two distinct parts – East and West Looe – with the Looe river running through the centre of the town. East Looe features a collection of narrow streets lined with shops cafes and pubs that lead through to the main town beach. The Beach is ideal for families. Bordered on the west by the Banjo pier – entrance to the main harbour and by a rocky promontory at the eastern edge, it is a compact beach. Over the years, the town has retained its small fishing fleet, which returns at high tide, to offload their catch alongside the riverside quay at the busy fish market, which dominates the towns east Quay.

We will be staying at The Portybyhan Hotel which is in a beautiful position overlooking the quay. The hotel overlooks the Looe River harbour, this modern hotel on the South West Coast Path is 10 minutes’ walk from East Looe Beach. There’s a relaxed restaurant with harbour views, and a contemporary lounge bar with a rooftop terrace and free WiFi throughout the hotel.

Day 1: We head westwards, for lunch en-route in Tiverton. We arrive at West Looe late afternoon, where you have time to relax after check-in before dinner.

Day 2: Start your day with a full English breakfast then your day is at free time to explore the fishing port, the shops, the Guildhall Museum or if you are feeling adventurous there are the glass bottom boats to take a trip in (not included in trip package).

Day 3: Today we head to Heligan’s historic gardens which were unknown and lost to the brambles of time since the outbreak of WW1. It was a chance discovery of a door in the ruins that led to the restoration of this once great estate. The Lost Gardens are now one of the finest gardens in England. We will be greeted with an introductory talk, before you can enjoy the gardens at your leisure. We will return to the hotel via the fishing port of Mevagissey where you will be able to have a short time to wander around Mevagissey Harbour, seeing the boats or time to climb up the stairs to reach Polkirt Hill for the best viewpoint over the town.

Day 4: After a leisurely breakfast, we say farewell to Looe and head homeward, stopping for lunch en route.  We return to the Blackmore Vale early evening
