Join us on a 2-day trip to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. We will stay for one night at the Holiday Inn Derby Riverlights -Morledge, Derby, in the heart of Derby city centre.

Day 1: We will leave the Blackmore Vale area and have a relaxing journey to our Hotel, with a comfort stop en route. You will only require an overnight bag. After we check in to the Hotel, you will have some free time to enjoy Derby.

Day 2: Enjoy a hearty breakfast and join the coach, ready to travel to the National Memorial Arboretum, just over half an hour from the Hotel. The National Memorial Arboretum comprises 150 acres of trees and memorials and is the UK’s year-round centre of Remembrance. Set within the National Forest of Staffordshire, it was established in 1997 and contains 150 memorials of national significance. The Arboretum is the home of the Armed Forces Memorial, which is a striking and emotive memorial. It gives recognition and thanks to those who have died whilst on duty or as a result of terrorist action since the Second World War and acknowledges the enduring sacrifice of those who mourn their loss.

There is a memorial service with the last post at 11.00 for those interested. At 12:00, we will board the Land Train, which is the perfect way to enjoy the 150-acre site. The 50-minute journey will provide lovely views across the landscape and introduce you to some of the 300-plus memorials. Highlights en route include the Shot at Dawn Memorial, The Polish Armed Forces Memorial, The RAF Remembrance Garden and views across the Naval Review.
