A three day trip to visit the Beamish living museamto allow you to experience Christmas in the 1820’s, 1900’s and 1940’s. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn, Washington.
Day 1: We depart the Blackmore Vale and head to our hotel in Washington with a stop for lunch. We aim to get to our hotel for mid-afternoon where you will have time to freshen up before your three course dinner.
Day 2: Today we head to Beamish for you to spend all day savouring this venue at Christmas. Beamish is the living museum that tells the story of the people of the North East of England in the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian periods. Set in 300 acres of Durham countryside Beamish shows how life in the North East changed from rural agriculture through more than 100 years of Industrial revolution. Discover the amazing festive sights, sounds and delicious taste of Christmas past. Around the museum you’ll experience the magic of Christmas in days gone by. Join the celebrations at 1820’s Pockerley Old Hall, The 1900’s Town and Pit Village and the 1940’s Farm. Admire the shops and houses decked out in their finery, sample Christmas cooking lovingly baked in coal-fired ranges or find some last minute quirky gifts in the shops in The Town and the Beamish Bazaar.
Day 3: After breakfast we say our farewells and start the return journey home. A stop for lunch and then a leisurely journey
back to Blackmore Vale arriving late afternoon/early evening.
