Join us on a four day trip to four very different locations. Firstly to Bletchley Park the home of the codebreakers, then the Imperial War Museum at Duxford with the Duxford Spitfire Flypast, then The National Memorial Arboretum and lastly the splendour of Warwick Castle.
You will be staying at the Huntingdon Marriott which also offers a swimming pool, whirlpool, health and fitness suite, and gym.
Day 1: We depart the Blackmore Vale and head to Bletchley Park where you can explore and understand all that went on at this fascinating place which was such a well-kept secret. Discover the codebreakers secrets, how they broke the codes and how they impacted on changing the path of the war. We will depart for our hotel mid-afternoon where on arrival at the hotel porterage will be provided. You will have time to change before your evening meal.
Day 2: After your full English breakfast we depart for the Imperial War Museum at Duxford for you to enjoy everything this impressive museum has to offer. Today be part of the 80th anniversary Battle of Britain Air Show which is the home of the Spitfire and the men and women who lived, served and fought during Summer 1940. Witness the now famous Duxford Spitfire Flypast, a sight of pure emotion, reflection and pride. Take a look at the reconstruction of the 1940’s Operation Room which saw the fighter aircraft directed into combat during The Battle of Britain or visit the Air and Sea Exhibition. There is so much to see here you will need all day to make the most of this Museum. We will leave Duxford and head back to the hotel in time for your meal.
Day 3: After breakfast we head to The National Memorial Arboretum for the day. The Arboretum is an evolving, maturing Woodland landscape featuring 30,000 trees and a vast collection of memorials. The 150 acre site is a living, growing tribute to Those who have served and continue to serve our country. There is over 350 thought provoking memorials, each with a story to be discovered. The memorials are diverse in nature, rich in symbolism and collectively represent a broad population of society from military, emergency services, charitable organisations and individuals. We return to the hotel in time for dinner.
Day 4: After your full English breakfast we depart our hotel for the return journey home stopping at Warwick Castle on the way back. Explore more than 1,100 years of jaw dropping history, magic, myth and adventure. Explore battlements, towers, turrets, awesome interiors and the Great Hall. Catch one of the spectacular birds of prey display or Time Tower Show. We will return to the Blackmore Vale early evening.
