Join us on a 5 day trip to Scotland, based at the wonderful Winnock Hotel, near Loch Lomond, you’ll enjoy some of Scotland’s finest scenery and attractions including a Loch Katrine Cruise, the Aberfoyle Woollen Centre, Edinburgh & The Kelpies
Day 1: Following our journey north, we will make our way to our hotel in Scotland for our four-night stay. The Winnock Hotel, Loch Lomond, is a charming old family-run hotel that takes centre stage on the green in the conservation village of Drymen. We will enjoy hearty breakfasts and dinners in the hotel throughout the stay. Please Note: The hotel has no lift and limited ground-floor rooms, some of which are accessed externally.
Day 2: Loch Katrine Cruise – After breakfast, we travel to Loch Katrine, s we take a 2-hour cruise aboard the steamship Sir Walter Scott. Afterwards, we travel to the small town of Callander which serves as the gateway to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, which is set beneath high, wooded crags. Enjoy a stroll through this lovely little town, stopping to discover the tea rooms and souvenir shops and admire the stunning scenery.
Day 3: Falkirk Wheel & Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway – After breakfast, we journey to the Falkirk Wheel. The wheel is a rotating boat lift connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. It opened in 2002, reconnecting the two canals for the first time since the 1930’s. We take a round boat trip on the canals where you can experience the ascent and descent through the wheel. Afterwards, we return on the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway with afternoon Cream Tea served on board.
Day 4: Loch Lomond Cruise & Inveraray – Sit back, relax and take in the majesty of Loch Lomond. Look out for our resident ospreys, who return every year and nest on the islands or spot the famous wallabies of Inchconnachan Island! Our first stop today is Loch Lomond shores, where we take a relaxing one-hour scenic cruise on Loch Lomond. We then travel through Arrochar and along picturesque Loch Fyne to Inveraray, a delightful, planned town and the traditional county town of Argyll. Enjoy some time at leisure in the town where the imposing Inveraray Castle dominates. The must-see attraction is Inveraray Jail, one of the finest and best-preserved jail and courtroom complexes in the world.
Day 5: After a hearty breakfast, we return to the Blackmore Vale area, with stops en route.
